If anyone out there is keeping count of the ongoing feud between rap divas Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, then they would clearly know it is now the Queen Bee’s turn to serve – or not. But was Nicki’s latest salvo towards Kim simply a form of attention seeking flattery? One prominent mind in music seems to think so.
Drummer and producer for The Roots Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson weighed in on the battle of the Barbies and offered an interesting point of discussion by calling the clash of the female rap titans nothing more than a love fest. "[I]ts my personal belief that dissing/verbal (well & actual) pugilism is the most intense form of LOVE," tweeted Thompson.
Questlove then went on to add, "[W]here your intent is to affect/infect em to the highest degree. i know that sounds contradictory (displaying harsh actions as a sign of affection) but if you see this in somewhat of a shakespearean (or maybe the hero/sidekick narrative of The Incredibles) one can only conclude that if Nik REALLY hated Kim...... she would do the most painful act of hate....which i pretty much know from experience (as loved and hated) the surefire slow burning-last-scene-in-kill-bill-way-to get under ones skin....is to act like they never existed."
In the elongated tweet, Questlove seemingly suggests that the "thin love between love and hate" narrative is what is underfoot stating that indifference from Nicki toward Kim would be more of a reversal of love than flat out hate or disdain. Still, it isn’t as if Questlove is rooting for an end to the war of words.
"[L]ong as this don't end up the way kim's last beef ended with Fox (member the hot97 shootout which pretty much landed kim where she is now) i say let em battle and continue this lovefest," he tweeted in closing.
This point of view actually makes alot of since. As you can see in this picture thy were obviously cool with eachother at one point in time , but what all of asudden changed for them to "HATE" eachother? In those tweets , it makes a point that if they truly di-liked eachother , they would do the most hateful , unbarable thing to eachother , just to get under one anothers skin...but all they have done is rap , and talk crap about eachother...so are they just doing it for attention ; i dont know maybe.
ReplyDeleteTruthfully i think lil kim is doing this for attention. Because her an nicki minaj was cool untill nicki started blowing up. Then all of a sudden kim started taking shots at nicki. So what you expect Nicki to do? Sitting there an let her take shots. So nicki minaj got back wit kim an now they going back an forth.
